Update on timing for public release of the report
August 20, 2012
In my last progress report, dated April 13, 2012, I reported on the consultations and other work I and my team had carried out to that date, and the tasks that were still left to be done in order for me to be able to prepare and finalize my report.
I am pleased to advise that my report is now substantially complete, and we will now begin the process of having the report translated from English into French, Cree, Ojibway, Oji-Cree and Mohawk so that it can be publicly released simultaneously in all six languages.
The deadline for public release of the report has been extended by the Province of Ontario to February 28, 2012 to allow sufficient time for translation and printing. It is my hope that translation and printing will be done reasonably expeditiously, so the report can be released well before that date.
Making the report available in multiple Aboriginal languages will enable my report to be more accessible to First Nations communities than would be the case if it were released in English and French only.
